Secret Ingredients are Fun!

Ever wondered why stir fry just tastes better at a Japanese grill? Now you can make your own delicious sauteed veggies and noodles that taste just like the restaurant with this secret ingredient! I’ve been working for years on the perfect (in my opinion) stir fry. This easy soy sauce sesame stir fry oil was the key to making the humble stir fry a very memorable and comforting meal.

Sesame oil and olive oil.

The Ultimate All-purpose Stir Fry Oil

My favorite use for this stir fry oil is for udon noodle stir fry. However, I also use this for sauteing veggies, fried rice, and crisping up wontons. Think of it as the all-purpose Asian ingredient. If you are planning to fry anything remotely Asian, give it a try! Word of advice, since this stir fry oil contains some soy sauce, don’t fry it at a super high heat. The sugars from the soy sauce might burn and leave an unpleasant burnt flavor in your meal. I find this works best for quick stir fry recipes that don’t need to sit and cook for several minutes.

Quality Matters

Sautes and stir fry recipes are quick dinners that provide incredibly flavorful bites with simplistic ease. Since we are not masking these meals with fancy ingredients, the quality that you choose can make or break a stir fry. I prefer using the nicest quality sesame oil and olive oil I can find. Cheap sesame oil can sometimes end with a bitter tasting note. Same goes for olive oil. If you want that perfect restaurant quality stir fry at home, look for oil that isn’t extremely old and preferably in dark glass bottles. I am lucky enough to live near the vicinity of a great local olive oil shop that sells some phenomenal sesame oil! It’s a luxury, so I usually opt for the stuff at my grocery store….cause you know…teacher salary! Haha!

I hope you enjoy using this secret ingredient for amazing stir fry dinners! Stay tuned for part two with my perfect udon stir fry!

Happy eating!
